Hair today, gone tomorrow

When we were in Minnesota for Christmas, James got a bee in his bonnet {or some such thing} to shave his head. He'd been worried about his balding for yonks...but finally put that to rest and put the  razor in his sisters hands!
I figured I should record this for posterity!
BEFORE:
Lisa is cracking up hysterically for some unknown reason. I'm sure her brother's quick wit has something to do with it....or the fact that she shaved down the middle first and threatened to leave it!
 Conceited much?
Look at that face.
The kids were quite enthralled...

 AFTER! uhhhhh....
His bald noggin wasn't as misshapen as I thought it was going to be!
He eventually did have to get 2 moles removed.
But he happily rocked his new Laker stocking cap everywhere we went in the Minnesota tundra.
It took me a few days...but I grew to love the baldness...and now, looking back at these pictures, I can't believe I didn't make him do it sooner!

The cutting of the hair....

So...the other day, I put a tiiiiiiny ponytail in Jax's hair. I did it right before James got home from work, just to see if he would notice. ♥ Then....I put Jax's high chair with the back facing the door, so the first thing James would see.....is the ponytail. {or...mulletail, as rightly named by Aube}

And did he see it??
Oh yessireeee. Ü

He didn't say a word....just walked back into the bedroom, changed, grabbed the clippers and went to town! Yaya!
Poor Jax-man....
kinda looks like torture, yeah?
James obviously never went to hair school...and neither he, nor I, has ever cut boy-hair before!
As these pictures rightly describe:
So I told James that since he messed it up and had to go way short, he BETTER GIVE THAT BOY A MOHAWK, yo! Ha!

Please excuse the ragamuffin, messy face! But you can really tell the difference around the ears.{which seem to be migrating away from his head, an unfortunate trait passed down from daddy}
He looks like such a little man now! With his bald head.
And chunky bow'd legs.

And spaghetti!!!!!

(Click me for the spaghetti reference)....also, I've been trying to post this stinkin' post for 3 days! And I can't even blame it on blogger this time!

So, this picture is really to prove that I actually do my hair from time to time....lest you think I'm a big ole slob ;). No really...when Lisa comes to town, it's like a hair party...she's got some good talent, and she shares it, which is the best! I had been trying to grow my hair out...I hadn't had it cut since February....and it really wasn't LONG, per se....more just bleh. Yup...bleh.
I had her layer it out a little this time...so I could flip it. I used to flip it ALL the time in the dry-heat of Las Vegas...but in the humidity, there's zero chance of that happening, except on Sundays. I'm uber-grateful for ponytails. UBER.
But as you can see...this picture also proves that I never wear  makeup. Actually, I probably am wearing makeup in the picture, you just can't tell because I have squinty eyes (can't trust me...).
Lisa, her two kids and dog stopped by our abode on their way to Minnesota. She was sweet enough to cut my hair, and trim up the girls hair too. Along with that...she put some purple in their hair, like I mentioned last post. Bella's never too excited to have someone mess with her hair...she would love it to be a ratted nest all the time, as long as NO ONE touches it. Our sweet little sensitive girl.
Rylee is a little used to this...Bella, tho...not too sure.
Hyrum even joined in on the purple fun! This is my attempt to get a "group" picture. Always half and half with the smiles Ü. These cousins just LOVE each other...yeah, they have spats here and there...but the love is always there!
I am learning I can always count on Bella to give me the sweetness in her pictures...sheesh, I love this girl. A month from tomorrow she starts Kinder....wowza. Hoping the purple will be gone by then....

It's a PON-EEEE-TAIL!

I willing my hair to grow just a FEW more inches...grow, baby, grow!! I need a ponytail for Cancun ;).
But I finally got this midget-tail...poor hair needs a cut so badly. I KNOW you're supposed to get it cut to help it grow, but I just can't bring myself to do it!!

Cut 'n Style

Today, my friend Rachel came over and gave the girls and I some cute haircuts! Mine was more of just maintenance, getting some of the thickness taken out. Bella and Aube's cuts weren't really planned, but I thought, what the heck! Might as well take her up on the offer! Bella hasn't had a haircut in 2 years! It's so curly that it's hard to tell if its uneven or whatever...but Rachel trimmed the edges and layered it a bit. Of course, it curls right up the minute you're done.

Aube hasn't had a "real" haircut in her 2 years....just a snip here or there on the bangs or in the back. As you can see, it was getting quite long!

Here are some after shots...just a little bit off the back... such whispy hair, I love it! And both of them looked too cute for words in that leopard print smock!

Ever so lovely....

I always want to play with Bella's hair...but most of the time after bathtime, we don't have TIME to blowdry and curl her hair. Not that I didn't have anything else to do today, but I just started in on it....blowdrying, curling...she did quite well, as I have no expertise in hair, poor girl!
So, of course I have to take her out on this beautiful sunshine-y day and snap a few photo's. She gets quite the grown-up look on her face after I do her hair...doesn't want to crack a smile!
It always amazes me how MUCH hair she has! All the curl sure does hide it!

Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.

Sugar and spice..

and everything nice...

Aubree's hair drives me nuts...what is with
my children's hair patterns....I have decided that she
will not end up with the crazy curls like Bella.
But she does have a mullet...
My friend Christina, posted about her daughter
having a morning mullet
and we decided that
mullets rule (unless you look like this)

So, I decided today was the day to give her a
MULLETTAIL Ü.
And then she discovered that cute baby in the mirror...
It was love from first glance!

Curly-Sue

Every time I do Bella's hair after
giving her a bath....I think to myself
"WHERE DID SHE GET THIS HAIR?"
It doesn't really run in our family...
we all have slight wavy hair, my youngest
sister, Hannah...when she was just getting
hair, it came in curly...we blamed it on the
humidity of Missouri, cause as soon as they
moved to Las Vegas, she lost it and now has
board-straight hair! There must be a rogue
gene out there in our genetic make-up.
OR my heavenly pleads as a teen were finally
answered in my child!
This is Hannah at age 2ish:

Not the best pictures, but you can kinda
tell there are some curls there...
Awww..I LOVE that girl.

Confessions of a Hair Junkie

BEFORE:
I have to admit, I love highlights
I really do...and when I have
the money, you can bet that I will
be at a salon every time my dark brown
roots grow in!!!
(Actually, I don't really know if my roots
ARE dark brown..they might be medium or
just dirty brown)

AFTER, phase 1:
So, I got tired of my roots....
and went with a color I thought would work.
Actually, it was a mix of two, given to me
by my favorite hairdresser,
my sis-in-law, Lisa.
BUT...ick, I must have mixed it quite
wrong, cause I got that 'nice' shade of
ash-y brown that I have been running
from my whole life.

AFTER, phase 2:
I went ahead and colored again, buying a
box of Feria from the store (so sorry Lisa,
I DID buy some JOICO K-pak to
repair the damage...hopefully)
I don't quite know if I like it...I've wanted
to try this color for awhile, chickening out most times.
It's a little to 'pink', really...so I do have
another box on stand-by, once this starts to fade.

Please, please excuse the face in the last 2 pictures...
I did all this last week in the midst of my sickness!
So...I'm a MUCH happier camper in the first picture!
I actually took that first picture for another post I had
been thinking of doing...so you may see it again!

New Haircut

Yeah, so I did it...chopped it off. Of course, no one really knew how long my hair was b/c I NEVER wore it down...ever...too much work. But I got what I wanted today, my hair will now FORCE me not to be lazy and look like a bum :P.
We also spent some of the afternoon at the park, Aube and Bella had a lot of fun. The weather has been so nice lately, we are really getting spoiled in our tshirts and shorts!
