D-day

I have NOT been looking forward to today! It was Bella's 3 year check up and Aubree's 1 year. I loath going to the pediatrician with a passion! Aubree's checkup's this year have been ok, she has been in the semi-above normal range, but her pediatrician has been very good at letting me know what to do, something I never had with Bella.
But what I have been dreading, is Bella's checkup...she hasn't been to the Dr since her 2 year old appt (we have been lucky in the sick dept). At her 2 year old appt, the Dr was very blunt, saying she was obese and could "stand to skip a few meals" and that was it...no plan, no suggestions, nada! Dr Bruce was super nice today...she said the exact same things, Bella is very overweight and her speech is very delayed. But she came at me differently, with a plan to help me to get the problems taken care of. She referred me to a nutrion specialist and is having me call the Grand Prairie school district to use their speech therapy resources.
So...I still feel like I have failed Bella, big time, but at least I have some resources now to get her on the right path! The Dr tried to console me today by saying "well, you're not a health care professional, how would you know the signs?" but PUH-lease! I'm her mother...I just got way too busy with moving to TX, moving to a house, having a new baby...so...this D-day, dreaded day has helped in that I have finally written down a schedule for myself so I can keep up with everything!
Aubree weighs in at 25 lbs 14 oz and is 30 1/2 inches tall. She is doing very well! Poor little girl had to get 4 shots, though, that she did NOT like!

Awww Sarah, you are a GREAT Momma! Don't be so hard on yourself! Good luck with all the suggestions the Dr. had for Bella and I hope Aubree does ok w/ all of those shots!

Don't worry, Sarah! Tons of parents go through stuff like that. Both of my sisters have kids who are speech delayed. Another one of my sisters is a speech pathologist if you ever want to talk to her! She's been great in identifying problems with kids in our family and letting me know what stage Ben shoud be at with his speech. You haven't FAILED, Bella! Things like that are easy to fix, especially since she's still so young!

Sarah, you are an awesome mommy!!!! And Bella is so sweet, she'll get it all figured out! It's so hard to be a mommy, especially when big events are distracting you, i.e. moving, new baby, etc. All will be well. I love ya and your sweet girls.

Bella might not be able to say "Empire State Building", but she could put together a puzzle of the empire state building. And at least our kids don't look like aliens. Do you know how many kids in this world have that problem? Neither do I...neither do I.
