Poor girl is nice and constipated, too (too much info, I know)...so if anyone has a miracle solution, please share! I am incorporating more fiber into her diet....but what one year old will eat 2 servings of veggies and 2 servings fruit each day. AND that fruit cannot include bananas or apples which supposedly make matters worse. I am making an appointment with a nutritionist for Bella, so hopefull I can get some ideas there too. What do ya'll feed your little ones? Especially at Aubree's age, when they won't eat the baby food, but yet big people food seems to be too much!
But she's so dang cute...even as a cranky, slobbery mess!

APPLE JUICE!
and not diluted...that always works for mine. Good luck!
She is so cute. And like I told you yesterday, grape juice seems to work. I've never tried apple juice, but it makes sense.
grape juice for sure with maybe a smidge of prune juice. or you can always buy the glycerine suppositories...
I heard that things like Pediasure are good, that's what our dr. recommended. Works for both sides of that situation if you get my drift. I couldn't even tell you what Ben ate at that age. He'd barely learned to feed himself and I'm just glad he'll eat real people food now. Well, for the most part anyway...
thanks you guys! have you ever heard if Metamucil is bad for 1 yr olds? like in small doses? and I read on askdrsears.com that feeding them small amounts of mineral oil...which doesn't seem quite right!
yeah you can do mineral oil, I have had to use it on Chandler when he was little. I made him take a ziploc baggie full of baby wipes the first day of kindergarten, just in case... It works, you may have to check dosage and change a couple of messy diapers.
Apple juice for sure and I fed Makenna prunes (those gerber packets)one time and it cleared her out so fast. I couldn't give them to her unless she was constipated because it worked too well:)
glycerine burns and doesn't clear out. Sorry.
Prunes are awesome and fruit (all kinds) smoothies are good with a bit of honey.
Water?
Metamucil expands and absorbs water, don't know about that for babies.
Never used it personally or on my children have just heard about it
My mom in law actually suggested using suppositories...but I can't imagine sticking them...there!
I don't know about constipation (though I know my friend Mindi has had to use the suppositories and they do work), but I do remember that hard stage where every meal it is like "what do we feed this kid!" Brady seemed to love (and still does) bread, teeny grape pieces, green beans, frozen peas, fruit cups, etc. He used to eat the same thing over and over! whew that was long! I hope I helped a little :)
oh man, suppositories are not fun. There are times when they are a Godsend, super high fevers (feverall supp.) and severe vomiting (phenergan or tigan).
When Wyatt was sick last year and only 1...my pediatrician said only take a rectal reading it's the only accurate way when temps get that high. I looked at him like he was crazy but he said babies don't know the difference. We as adults know that would be uncomfortable and that we don't want things there, but babies haven't learned that yet and it's no different to them that doing it orally. So a suppository won't bother her... but I understand your hesitation!
Graham crackers add some fiber but still taste good. Does she like raisins? Glycerin suppositories work good when you really need them. They're a pain to put in... just get it up past the rectum, then they don't feel a thing. I've used alot of tylenol suppositories for little John since he's been born.
And OH! I LOVE LOVE LOVE that picture of you kissing Aubee. That needs to be framed, sent in for photo contests, whatever... it's beautiful!!
awwwww...THANK YOU MOMMIE!!! I LOVE YOU!
