I have been "Blog Tagged" by my friend Shannon. In this post, I am to let you know 6 things about me that are odd or new to you!! I should really rename this the "Freak Blog Tag" cause the more I think of the things you don't know about me, the more a freak I feel!! :)
SO, let's get started:
1- I am severely scared of the dark. Before I go into a room, I put my hand in and turn the light on, only then can I actually go into the room. I don't know where this comes from. I remember as a child, at night I would cover myself up to my ears with my blanket b/c I thought whatever was out there didn't want to eat my head! LOL. I think I watched "Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Jaws" at a friends house when I was WAY too young. I even had my own room once (not an easy thing with 5 girls in the house) but I made my mom put me in with Laura and Jen b/c I would get so scared by myself. Anyways...all these years later, I'm still very scared of the dark. James likes to take advantage of that sometimes. :) Go figure!
2- In high school, I was Drum Major for the band. I got to get all decked out it boots, short-shorts and a great hat (pictures to come on Way Back Weds). My aunt Jan and my cousin Jessica and Jan Ellen were all drum majors, and I looked up to them alot. So, when freshman year came around, I studied up on directing music and tried out. My band years were probably the best times of my life! I also played French horn when it wasn't marching season.
3- I love to spell...see what I mean about this tag making me sound like a freak? I usually guess at words, and I can be 95% right. In middle school I won a spelling bee....no big thing. Now, this doesn't mean I always spell things right, or that my grammar is always right....but I like for things to be spelt right! BUT I do think I am mildly dyslexic when it comes to numbers, they get all jumbled up when I look at them.
4 -I LOVE movies! Like seriously...I wish I could be a film critic. And I love any and all kinds, I also feel like I can find something I like about each and every movie....even if it's something small. When I was growing up, Saturday night was our family movie night. Every Saturday night we would get pizza and a movie, for awhile there we would go to Main Street Video every week...so many times the owner knew us by name. We would get a good family movie and sarsparilla. Then, we would eat on a blanket in the front room, our Little Caesar's pizza and dad's orange julius! Ahh...good memories!
5- My favorite job I have ever had was working at Baskin Robbins. It was my first job when I turned 16, and I kept that same job till I graduated from high school. I worked at a different one in Columbia, where I went for a year of college, and it was even my first job when I moved to Las Vegas. I loved it....I even got to the point where I made and decorated all the cakes. One day I want to own one, with a Subway connected, right next to my Day Spa!
6- I love Books. I love collecting books. I hate going to the library and checking them out b/c of the way they feel...kind of a used feeling. Of course, on the flip side, I am okay with stocking up on books from Goodwill on 25 cent book day! Doesn't make much sense! One day, I want to have a room that is just FULL of books, wall to wall.

Sarah, I think the fear of the dark comes from no where else than grandma's basement!! It still freaks me out and how old am I? Old enough to know that there really isn't a boogie man. However, it doesn't keep me from running up her stairs or quickly down the hall. Enjoyed your "tagged" comments!
Funny, we have a lot in commonÜ I too like things to be spelled right! And I hate the library for the mere fact that the books smell musty. Gareth could spend all day there. And my sister played the french horn as well. She was born w/ only one hand so it's the only instrument she could play that way... So fun, I will have to think of my 6 things, it's going to be hard!
See, now I LOVE the musty smell of the library. Just love it. But I do also get that ick factor a little bit. Ewan spilled a little water on the cover of a library book a few weeks ago, and I wiped it with a baby wipe, and let me tell you, a LOT more than just water came off. I think I'm going to start cleaning them with wipes when I bring them home.

We share some of the same "The Freak blog" things??? Nah' we are normal. I hate the dark too, but because I thought my stuffed animals, while little' were going to come alive and attack. I was in flags supporting the Band! I now love and appreciate books as well. Family nights are the best, especially pizza and a movie! If things are not spelled right I go crazy it has to be fixed, but I am not perfect! ;)
Hey now.. That's not fair to tag me! :( I'll have to think about it.. But its funny learning that you're scared of the dark :) I thought you were so brave.. HA! Just kidding :)
Sarah...thanks for the tag...made me realize how boring I am!!! LOL!!! I did manage to get 6 things about me. I have no idea if they are things people know or not. Oh well. I tried!

I used to be so scared of the dark I slept with my head under the covers. I too dream of a huge library in my house, I love books! And yummy ice cream! And, did I tell you that Chandler won his school spelling bee three years in a row? He totally gets it from me...

And sort of related to the spelling thing, I love words. In the sense that I want to know what they mean in detail, why they mean what they mean, how long they have meant what they mean, what the meaning derived from, and related words. I dream of learning Latin.

James, we massage guys at the Hilton now. They have done that for the last couple of years unfortunately. Sometimes I don't mind because they tip more and other times, I'm just too grosed out. I will leave the long curly back hair to Sarah;)
