General Conference -Saturday Morning session

The LDS church has a General Conference twice a year, where our Prophet, Apostles and other authorities speak to us from Salt Lake City.
This General Conference was very special b/c we were asked to stand and sustain our new Prophet, President Thomas S. Monson. What a special feeling, the love for a new prophet!
We taped all 4 sessions, which is good b/c you never hear it all! So...at work tonite, I watched the first Saturday session, and a couple of things the speakers talked about jumped out at me:

Russell M. Nelson:
(I love this)
When a child needs correction, you might ask yourself:
What can I say or do to persuade him to choose a better way?
When giving necessary correction, do it quietly, lovingly, and not publicly.
If rebuke is required, show an increase in love promptly, so that seeds of resentment my not remain. To be persuasive, your love must be sincere and your teaching based on divine doctrine and principles.
Try not to control your children, instead listen to them, help them to learn the Gospel, inspire them and lead them toward eternal life. You are God's agent in the care of His children He has entrusted to you. Let His divine influence remain in your hearts as you teach and persuade.

Also from Russell M Nelson:
Salvation is an individual matter; Exaltation is a family matter.

Sister from the General Primary Presidency:
Will their hearts and minds be full of traditions that make it easy for them to follow the Lord?

Kenneth Johnson:
For those who have strayed b/c of doctrinal concerns, we cannot apologize for the truth, we cannot deny doctrine given us by the Lord, on this principle we cannot compromise. I understand that some people disagree with the words of doctrine, they even go so far as to call it foolish. But I echo the words of the apostle Paul, who said that sometimes spiritual things can appear as foolishness to men, nevertheless the foolishness of God is stronger than man.
"The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him, neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."
1 Corinthians 2:14

Thanks for losing my place...it took me almost two minutes to get back to the place I left off this morning. It was a great talk, though, so I didn't mind repeating some of it. I guess the 10 minutes it takes for me to iron my shirt in the morning is better used listening to an apostle than watching southpark.

Post the pictures that Tony took of the girls, or else!!!

Thanks for those, especially the ones from Russell M. Nelson. My mother in law told me he gave some good stuff. Bryce and I had it on the computer, but only heard about 1/3 of it. Me because the kids were being loud, Bryce because it's hard to listen when you are asleep.

I think there have been some studies in Sweden where you actually get more out of a talk while you are asleep. It's all documented on the internet, so it must be true.
