"You mistake me, my dear. I have the utmost respect for your nerves. They've been my constant companion these twenty years."
Movies are like comfort food to me...not that I would skip comfort food either....but every time I get sick, I revert to certain movies to watch as I lay in misery on my couch. Of course, that's a little melodramatic, I just have a headache and can't breathe....I will survive. Nevertheless, I did spend the afternoon on the couch, switching between cutting tulle for tutu's and laying down watching Pride & Prejudice (my fave one with Kiera Knightley...though if I had time I would watch Colin Firth as Darcy over and over). And as I was watching it, I realized that this movie falls into my "Comfort Movies" category! The very first on that list is: Gone with the Wind. I remember when I was a child, I would stay home sick from school and have chicken noodle soup, sprite and mom would go and rent Gone with the Wind for me. It was bliss (cause I was probably faking sick anyways). Other movies include: Princess Bride, The Man from Snowy River, The Neverending Story .... you get the point....THOSE kind of movies, where you can sit and sigh and have a smile on your face, though your insides do not!
"You must know... surely, you must know it was all for you. You are too generous to trifle with me. I believe you spoke with my aunt last night, and it has taught me to hope as I'd scarcely allowed myself before. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on."

oh! i love, love, LOVE this movie! And i think the idea of comfort movies is so true! I never thought of it before, those tried and true movies that you know you love, so you pop in for that feel good feeling!
Look here, miss, you had better get well right away! Yuck, it stinks to be sick!
Princess Bride is on my list too. And I too am a trifle in love with Mr. Darcy (along with the other 50% of the planet). Tres comforting. Now go make James make you some chicken soup. And some ice cream.
I got her some bacon cheddar potato wedges.
I love comfort movies. The Princess Bride and Pride and Prejudice are definitely on my list, too. I also have comfort television shows. Ones I've watched over and over but I still turn them on at night to watch if I can't fall asleep.
I. LOVE. COLIN. FIRTH. And I love Pride and Prejudice. *Sigh*
James, you just made me hungry;)
