Checking out the lights....

Last night we bundled the girls up (tho the weather was a balmy 54) and headed over to Arlington to the Interlochen Lights Display. It's this great big neighborhood with (most) houses all decorated with lights. It wasn't on the grand scheme I had imagined...especially with a sign leading into the neighborhood saying "2 hour wait from here"...but it was nice to have so many lights grouped together. There are just one too many bah-hum-boogers out there this year! It is really interesting to see the types of lights and decorations put up. Some are very tasteful and pretty...some are just plain ODD (yes, Kelli, we did see the hanging snow men...there are maybe 25-30 of them HANGING!). There was even a Santa kneeling over baby Jesus' cradle. I just don't get it...maybe it's just me....but I like to have a THEME to things...like if I'm gonna have snowmen in my yard....there will be snowmen and maybe some of those pretty lighted up Christmas trees....but I'm NOT gonna put a manger scene with a Santa standing over it! It just seems wrong to me ;). To each his own, I guess.
There was one yard with Santa lying in a bed sleeping, with Mrs Claus standing over him....and Bella wanted so badly to go and give him a kiss and make sure he lived happily ever after!
The girls had a lot of fun singing to the Enchanted soundtrack....my little Aube knows those songs better than I thought!A few cars passed us and I would see the passenger or driver saying "Awww" and smiling at us, so I looked back to see Bella with a towel over her head (because she refused to let us roll the window up and she was cold) looking a bit like Mary Ü.
I really want to get one of these for my yard! What most of the lights looked like...cause James drives like a maniac ;).
I kid....I kid.....My favorite decoration! Reminded me of this one from back home in Sikeston, where this yard had a reindeer driving an old classic car....with Grandma sticking out from underneath the wheel. Hehe. Hilarious.
Merry Christmas Eve, everyone!!!

As a kid I used to think houses that didn't decorate were all hum-buggery. But now- as an adult? Waaay too much work! Where do you even put all the lights needed for a two story house? Much less the massive ladder you'd need to get up there!

Fun! We didn't make it yet this year, maybe by New Year's. And aren't those hanging snowmen so UGH!, creepy? I couldn't remember exactly what they were, but I just remember the hanging.

Interlochen is over rated I think. I got stuck there one year, I was going to look at a dog we were gonna adopt. Major mistake! Looks like y'all had fun though. My neighbor has a Santa with baby Jesus, wrong wrong wrong!
