We have now seen all of Cedar City.

......the mountains, Duck Creek, the Walmart (very important) and now....the ER. Thursday, at about 2:30 in the afternoon, we noticed some pills missing from mom's weekly pill case. With some panic, mom realized the worst case scenario would be 5 days worth of pills missing. We interrogated the guilty party...Bella, Bubba and Aube...who had been playing in the bathroom quite secretly. The older children filled us in on Aube eating the pills...and when asking Aube if she recognized the pills, she says "Oooo, fish eggs, yum". So, we made a call to the Poison Control people, who said with our worst case scenario, we should take Aube on over to the ER. Which we did...on the way, she puked twice, in which we did find remnants of a pill.

In the ER, we were told she would need at least 8-12 hours of observation by the nurse...when the Dr arrived, he wanted to admit her over night for observation...so off to MedSurge we went.
The pills she might have ingested wouldn't peak for at least 8 hours, thus the worry.

To say the least, she was a good little patient. She stayed in her hospital bed...got annoyed with the nurses poking and prodding her (who wouldn't). But she got lucky, those nurses did their best to win our little sweetie over, and they succeeded, which made everything so much easier. After thinking things thru, when the situation calmed down a bit....we realized there had been some miscounting and our "worst case scenario" went from 5 days worth to only 2 days worth of pills. Dr. North said that if she ingested even one pill, it's still not good for a child Aube's size and wanted us to stay put to watch for any serious side effects.

The monitors were all attached to her back...making for an uncomfortable night.
Talking to daddy, saying "I promise not to put any pills or anything bad into my mouth, I promise!" The cup of charcoal we had to basically force down her throat. I wish they would have just used the tube and gotten it over with. Nasty, nasty stuff.... We were discharged around 10:30am Friday morning. Aube made it thru the night with normal blood pressure and a normal heart beat (the things they were looking for). She's been fine all day...changing her diaper has NOT been pleasant after all that charcoal. And now we know that if we ever have to go to the hospital in Cedar City...it's a fantastic place...though we don't want to stay too long!

Looks like she enjoyed the attention. Even if they were really fish eggs, why would she want to eat them? Eeewww. Wish I could have been there, but glad everybody's okay.

She has a very early appreciation for caviar!
Glad things turned out ok and that she's fine. We were all worried down here in Vegas. Hugs and kisses!

I'm so glad she is ok. I was worried too. I'm sure James was having a hard time being so far away. Give her a kiss for me.
How in the world did you get her to actually drink that?

Oh my gosh!! I am so glad she is all better. How freaking scary.... Those charcoal diapers are no fun, I remember back when my sister Amy swallowed pills and had to take it. Yuck!

What little kid likes caviar? Scary, but good to know you were all in good hands.

Gosh Sarah that's terrible, poor Aubree. I am so glad that she is okay. Cedar City has a great hospital, that is where Chloe was born. We loved Cedar City and that is one of the places we think we would like to end up when Aaron finishes school.

Oh, my gosh, I'm so sorry this happened. That really had to be a scare! I'm glad she is all better and I hope you are fine too after a scare like that. Wow!

How scary is that!?! I'm sure James and you too were just going nuts not having each other together during all this! I'm so glad to hear that nothing bad happened with it, or worse I guess. We had that recently with dramamine pills and Cora. The cap was supposed to be child-proof, but it wasn't so child-proof. We didn't have to go to the er though thankfully as it was only about 1/2-1 pill, but still such a scary thing!

Well – a trip isn’t complete without a visit to the ER, huh? I’m just sorry it was one of the babies . . . :-( Glad everything is okay – and I hope they both remember that nasty charcoal if they come across deciding whether or not to eat fish eggs again!

OH MY GOSH!! Ican't believe I'm JUST NOW reading this post! I bet you were terrified! I'm so glad that she's fine, but seriously, bless your hearts! Why is it that 2 year olds insist on eating everything in sight (edible or no?) WE caught David taking swigs off the Children's Tylenol the other day...

PS--Why in the world would Aube think "fish eggs" are "yum"?

Oh, my gosh, I cannot believe I am just reading this!!! How scary - I'm sorry you had to go through that, but so glad it turned out okay. Poor Aube, that charcoal stuff does NOT LOOK GOOD.
