One thing I am determined to do this summer is to have more pool time. I'm not that big on swimming...truthfully, it's fun and relaxing, but it's a bit of a hassle. The getting ready, getting in, making sure no one drowns, the splashing, the bugs, the screaming when getting out, the crying when having to go inside = one big headache. I know it just comes down to me not being so tightly wound, which has become too much the norm lately.
James, on the other hand, is totally rad at making sure the girls get pool time. When I work at night, he takes them out and lets them swim while he reads or makes dinner (
we bbq alot lately, due to this).

We should really put the girls in a swim class to learn how to actually swim. But since we are lazy Ü we are trying to do it ourselves...haha. That's what I've been doing all year, actually...when one or the other as fallen in the pool...SWIM, baby girl, SWIM. haha.

Bella loves her goggles....they help her to "try and find Spongebob" underwater (
you know, since he lives in a pineapple under the sea....which is the only part of Spongebob I let my kids watch, the beginning....as I try and turn the channel to another, less annoying, station).
James properly adjusted and spit (
yes, spit, yuck) into her glasses to make sure they didn't fog up...of course, it didn't help much and she'd surface with them 1/2 filled with water. lol.

My goal is to have this water-baby swimming by the middle of summer. I know she can do it (
since she fell in the pool last month and kept her head above water until I could reach in and pull her out...haha...I told you it was my method) she's just fond of the phrase "I can't" whenever I take her floaties off and let her go.

See...I'm in the pool! Not just snapping pictures by the way-side. I'm tellin' ya...we will all be a bunch of waterlogged folks by fall!

The goggles filled with water BEFORE I adjusted them. After I adjusted them Bella just had rings around her eyes from the suction.
Haha!! It looks like she has black eyes. Are you beating her James??? I seriously am so jealous of your pool. I am sure it's a hassle but don't they sleep better from being all tuckered out from swimming? I love bbq (since the men cook)and less mess to clean up too. Have fun!!! I wish we could come over!!
I LOVE a pool!! I go out every morning and swim a few laps before the kids in the community get up ;) My babysitter taught me and my brother to swim when I was like 10. Now I'm a fish out of water! I told Ray I HAVE to HAVE a pool when we finally buy a home...and if it's in Alaska, well, it'll have to be an indoor one ;)
You should get them trainers. They fit around their waist/chest area and are filled with foam. It keeps their head above water while allowing them to kick and swim and get strong at the same time. As they get stronger you remove a piece of foam at a time. Eventually they are swimming with no foam at all. It took Hayden a month to be a very strong swimmer.
We actually used those for Bella up until last year. The ones we liked were from Target and this year she is just too big for them, unfortunately. I should find one for Aube, tho.
Dude, why do I have to live 300 miles away where I can't shamelessly take advantage of our friendship by constantly inviting myself over to swim in your pool?
I think our teaching methods are eerily similar...and GIRRRRLLLL, you are looking CUTE in that picture!
Sarah – you are one hot mama! :-)
Swimming lessons – yeah – the teacher will tell them the same thing you’ve said a million times (and won’t listen to you), then they’ll do it with ease. It’s just the way it goes . . . You ought to check out the Y or the City. I was surprised by the cost for Caedyn. We just did a two weeker (4 days each week) through the City and it was less than $45! Of course, double that it doesn’t sound so cheap anymore – but lots better than the $300!!! you can shell out for private lessons some places.
You sound just like me! It seriously is such a hassel just to go swimming, it takes like an hour to get ready and put on all the sunscreen and then your house is all messed up with wet swimsuits and towels on the floor but your too worn out to clean it up so it sits there until the next time you go swimming. I go through this everyday too with my girls. :) I like your swimsuit, you look cute!
THat is a great teaching method. It is how I taught my youngest sister to swim. I threw her in the deep end and refused to go get her. She managed to make her way (very mad) to the side at which point i cheered, "yay, you can swim! See i told you that you wouldn't drown."
Oh wow... can we come over and swim Sarah? Your pool looks GREAT!! and SO DO YOU!!
