I've always been ashamed that I've never read Pride and Prejudice. It's a classic...I love the movie, I love the story line...I just don't love the old writing styles...so. many. words. I think I border on illiteracy somedays. Oh well...thats just me...but I always find this weird, because I love books so much and want to read everything I can, I have a list a mile long of books to read...but mind mind just doesn't wrap around it. Oh well...
But I digress...back to the book.
You know why I was drawn to this book, don't you?? Ü Because of the opening paragraph:
"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains. Never was this truth more plain than during the recent attacks at Netherfield Park, in which a household of eighteen was slaughtered and consumed by a horde of the living dead. 'My dear Mr Bennet,' said his lady to him one day, 'have you heard that Netherfield Park is occupied again?"

OH...and it has illustrations.
This was written by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith (who once took a class in English Literature). It's like 85% Austen and 15% this other dude....basically he just adds sentences and creates a world where the Bennet girls were trained in the art of fighting the 'unmentionables' by their Chinese master. I can't say that it adds to the book, since I've never read the original...but I'm pretty sure it doesn't...it's just entertaining ;). I'm crossing my fingers that they make this into a movie.

Awesome! I am the same way, Pride and Prejudice has been on my to read list forever, but everytime I start it I get so discouraged and lost in the words. I would love to borrow this book from you.
For our book club in Florida I read Emma. About halfway through the book I realized I had already seen the movie... Clueless. I love to read but hate when it takes four pages to describe the drawing room before getting to that point of why we are even in the drawing room.
That's the only way I'd watch Pride and Prejudice with you...or if you asked really nicely.
That. Looks. Freakin'. Awesome.
Okay, i must read it for the illustrations alone.
Mucho, mucho hilariouso.
