Miracles do happen!

I started today with a new habit...of WORKING OUT....*GASP* I know, hard to believe, huh? I say that I have "started a new habit" because that's what I would like this to be come....a habit...an obsession. You know how you see those people who LOVE to workout...LOVE to run. Yeah, I want to be one of them!
Shannon and I have commited to going to the rec center (with FREE babysitting, glooooorious *in my best Jenny voice**) 3 times a week! A couple of things jumpstarted this new phase. Jenny talked about how she would go and work out at a rec center near her house and they had a daycare for the kiddos...this put the thought into my head, I thought it would be so cool to do, but yet with my schedule working till 4am, there would be no way I could be consistent with it! Well....then I got a little promotion at work and my schedule was switched from 8p-4a to 6p-2a. Which is STILL pretty late, yes...but you would never know the difference 2 hrs makes unless you've done it! SO...all of a sudden, getting up at 7:30 or 8am isn't a horrible thought anymore! It's amazing to think that just 2 hours can open up soooo many horizons! And 3rd-ly, what kicked it up a notch, was a picture taken in Arizona of me from the side and I looked PREGNANT. Seriously...it's hard enough to actually BE pregnant and gain that weight, but to NOT be pregnant and still LOOK pregnant, thats enough to make me want to barf! Ü
So...this morning we started, I was late *of course* but was able to get in an hour (thank you for doing this with me Shannon!). I need to get a schedule down, so each time I go I can feel as if I have accomplished something. A friend at work gave me the website for Shapefit, in which I can hopefully find some specific things to drop this weight I have accumulated! Seriously at least 85 lbs since I have been married. EIGHTY FIVE POUNDS. What a relief to be able to drop a 10 year old child off my back!!

That’s so exciting Sarah!!! I’ve dedicated myself to workout (i.e. run on the treadmill at home) 4 – 5 days a week myself, but didn’t ever blog about it (because I don’t want people asking me about it when I get lazy about it). Anyway . . . something that’s working for me is this . . . . I have a “workout calendar” I print off that has the minutes (or miles) I plan to run written in each day. The month is taped up above my mirror in my bathroom so I have to see it everyday (and that’s where my treadmill is too). I either check when I’ve done my workout, or mark and “x” if I skipped it. The calendar is enough to motivate my dorky self from wanting to have too many “x’s” staring at me in the morning.

I’m cheering you on!!

Oh – and running (i.e. really slow jogging) is my exercise of choice. And I really like this blog for motivation/tips/etc. http://www.doctormama.blogspot.com. The author is a SB (“skinny b****”), but her advice is still pretty good. :-)

You need to make your blog much less interesting. It’s really cutting into my work productivity here!

Free babysitting at the rec center is glorious :)
8:30 is early for me and I don't even work nights! But I really want to start working out with people again so I'll try to get myself motivated to join you guys!

Good Luck Sarah. I know it is possible. John's dad (who is on his mission) has dropped almost 70 pounds in the last year. He uses sparkpeople.com. It helps him keep track of everything he eats/does. He apparently lives by it! Running is my life line and I guess always has been from time time. Maybe it will be for you too!

Aww! Jello! You are one of my biggest workout inspirations...I remember you and Gold's in Columbia running away on that treadmill for hours! LOL. I'll check that website out!

Good Luck Sarah!!! We'll have to keep each other motivated;) I'm getting bored with my tae bo but it's too hot to bike ride anymore so I guess it's what I'll have to do. How much does your rec center charge to work out?

The Rec Center costs $32 for a yearly membership....then $15 for the weight room membership for a month. Not too shabby...
