I'm so excited....but yeah, it took about an hour to complete these 2 pages...mainly just from trying to figure out WHAT pictures and matching them with papers...that was the hard part! The EASY part was sitting here at my computer, all my elements and papers (FREE elements and papers, mind you) in an easy-accessible folder, pictures all together in another folder...grabbing from here, pulling from there...and VIOLA (like that Krista?) two pages done!Of course...my heart will always run Close To My Heart colors.....I love to paper craft! But digital scrapbooking is so dang easy!
A question some people have is "How do you print off the pages?" Well...my answer...I don't quite know! Though I DO know Shannon, Christina, Julie and Bonnie know... so I'm not worried :) hehe.Next on my list....external hard drive, some where to put these babies!
I used the kit Whimsy by Purple Tulip Designs by Suzanne Blair.

OK, you just rock b/c i know you did these WITHOUT a template! I love them! I especially love how you did the second one, and I love the 4 blocks of paper, I am TOTALLY stealing that idea! LOL! Very, very cute!
And there are many places that will print out in the 12x12 size for you but it is pricey! I think Julie and I both agreed that it is way cheaper to creat a new file that is 8x10, import your 12x12 page into it and print it that way, slice off the bottom 2 inches and voila! an 8x8 spread!
An answer to your printing question. I have been told, by more than one person, that you can now print 12x12 pages at Cosco for $3 a page. (I don't have a Cosco membership so I've yet to check this out for myself.) I have also read that some people reduce their layouts to an 8x8 size and then add a white 2 inch strip to the bottom so they can print it as an 8x10. That's cheaper than a 12x12 and you just cut the white strip off when you get them home. I originally thought I wanted to do them as 8x8's, but I like putting so many pictures on a page that I think I'll go with the 12x12 size so you can see all the pictures better. Long enough explanation? :)
Apparently I was typing my comment as Shannon was posting hers.
And I completely forgot to say YEA!! for your first completed layout! And how awesome are you for not using a template?!
I'm so excited that you've been converted to digital scrapping! These pages look really good - my first pages didn't look nearly that good.
Julie and Shannon both mentioned ideas for printing, and those are both fine. Costco does print 12x12 for $3.00 a page, but I'm probable just going to go with a photo book publisher. There are several out there that will print a yearbook style hardbound book for less than you would spend on supplies (album, papers, embellishments, photo prints) for a traditional album. I haven't used any of these services yet, but I will probably be ready to print in another month or two and I'll let you know how that goes.
If you do searches for the following, you can see different companies and the sizes and pricing they offer.
(Memory Mixer, Snapfish, MyPublisher, Shutterfly, etc.)
Ya'll are awesome!!! Thanks for the ideas!
They look great!
You are too funny!! Those look awesome. I wish you were here so you could teach me how to as well;)
I am going to be using BLURB to print all mine out in a hard bound book. There is an option you can do (portfoilio I think) that you just put all your pages onto a blank page rather than using their "layouts" I scrap in 12x12, but the square book they have is a 7x7. We'll see how it all turns out. I won't be printing any time soon since I have A LOT of catchin' up to do!
YOUR PAGES LOOK GREAT! HOORAY for digi-scrappin'!!!!!
Those look so good! I’m trying to look away though - - - must not add to my list of stuff (I need to repeat this phrase 50 times).
Good pictures. I wonder if the printed books for digital scrapping look as good as the ones you do "the old-fashioned way".
blog - found through a blog - I've done both - digital books and digital prints. It really depends on the company you use. I have used snapfish - pretty good, Creative Memories - great quality and they do prints or books if you have their software, and Costco (you don't need a membership) their 12x12 prints are great too and cheaper than most others. you can also order special sizes like 12x24 and get 2 pages together for $4 and cut them apart when you get it shipped to you - love not loading the kids in the car.
I too go back and forth from traditional paper and hands on crafting to digital and back again. LOVE the flexibility of being able to do both!
SARAH, SHUT UP! YOU ARE SO GOOD AT THIS!
I am definitely going to start copying you a bit (please forgive) and do more block-type scrapping. Sometimes I think I get overwhelmed by all the elements they give you that I try to scrunch them all on a page and it ends up looking like HUD! I love love love it and can't wait to see more!
VIVIO is also a great place to print off your scrapbook!
Whoops, I totally told you wrong. If you go to VIOVIO you can print off your 12x12 scrapbook pages for $0.75 each, which is really cheap. You can read more about it at:
