Making good use of my "Organizational" skills...hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

I am not necessarily a clean person....I do try hard to keep things picked up, though the effort never seems to be enough. Lately, I am soooooo tired of the girls room being so messy. It's totally not cool. I KNOW they are kids and that they are supposed to be messy, it just comes with the territory. But it's getting way to annoying having to follow after them everyday, picking up the destruction they have laid. And adding to that, it's hard to get a 2 & 4 year old to automatically pick-up by themselves w/o some coercion, which sometimes involves my voice going up a couple notches in volume. Either option...just don't like it!

I finally decided to PUT THE TOYS AWAY. Ya know, box them up, put them in the closet, so that when they wanted to play with something specific, you get that box out and they play, then put it away.
My previous way of holding all their toys was this rack, shelf thing with bins. Which is a LOVELY way to hold all the toys...if you're not slightly OCD like myself and have to have each bin for certain toys, the girls not understanding this and haphazardly throwing toys wherever they fall, unknowingly driving mommy crazy Ü.
Thus, the before picture:

And the after pictures:

Things bought:
*new, bigger portable drawer thingy to hold dress-up clothes...replacing smaller drawer thingy that was cracked, broken and drawn on.
*5 storage boxes to house blocks, play food, puppets, random small toys and the Little People.

Though their toys are still scattered thru out the house (of course)....I feel that the clutter has been diminished a tad...and I LOVE that I won't be finding bags full of fake food all over (courtesy of Miss Bella)!

Speaking of that certain, charming child....Bella was quite pooped after "helping" me reorganize their room!

**AND P.S.**That rack with the bins is now listed on Craigslist...please let me know if you want to buy it!

It looks so good! I love being organized, it is something in the kids room that I struggle with all the time, I am still waiting for that perfect system! What you have looks great, and I too love the whole idea of certain toys in the closet!

Hi Sarah-

Don't know if you know me or not but I happened to be looking at your blog and was wondering how much you're selling that toy bin/rack. Please email me at mubeenheaton@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Seriously, aren't those drawer thingies the bomb-diggity? (that's right, i said it!) Our house looks much less like an atomic explosion now that we have specific places to put toys.

I've got to break down and buy some more storage bins. The room looks great!

I got rid of a bunch of the crap in the boys' room, too, and I swear it's AWESOME. It looks so much better, and they actually have a dresser now! Yay for organization. Of course that depends on how long it lasts...

I hear ya on organization...it must be a Sargent thing since I have to have certain toys/books in certain places too. I'm glad you got it organized like you like it! Sometimes I want to pitch half of the girls' toys! Oh well!
